Log It — Privacy Policy

Log It has no account system, no servers, and no analytics. Your financial data stays on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud. None of it is ever sent to the developer or to anyone else.

Who this covers

This policy covers the Log It app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, published by Danut Florian ("we", "us"). It applies to the app and its widgets, share extension, and Siri actions.

The short version

• We do not collect, receive, or store any of your data. There is nothing for us to see.
• There is no sign-up, no login, and no user account.
• The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party trackers.
• Your expenses are stored on your device, and in your own private iCloud if you enable sync.
• We never sell, share, rent, or broker your information, because we never have it.

What Log It stores, and where

Expenses, budgets, categories, recurring items, and your settings are stored in a database on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, that data is also stored in a private iCloud container tied to your own Apple Account. Apple provides that storage; we have no access to it and cannot read, export, or recover it. iCloud sync is optional and can be turned off at any time.

Apple Wallet transactions (FinanceKit)

Log It can read transactions from Apple Card, Apple Cash, and Apple Savings so that your purchases become expenses without you typing them in. This feature is off by defaultand only ever runs after you turn on Apple Wallet sync and grant permission in the system prompt iOS shows you.

When it is on, Log It reads only four pieces of information from each purchase:

• the transaction amount;
• the transaction date;
• the merchant name (or the transaction description, when no merchant name is provided);
• the merchant category code, which the app converts into one of its own spending categories such as Groceries or Travel.

Log It does not read your account balances, account numbers, card numbers, or statements, and does not read any transaction detail beyond the four fields above. Only purchases are recorded; credits and refunds are ignored. When a pending charge later settles at a different amount, the matching expense updates itself, and when a transaction is reversed, the expense is removed, so your totals stay honest.

This information is read directly on your device through Apple's FinanceKit framework and written only to your local Log It database. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than showing you your own spending inside the app.

You can turn Apple Wallet sync off inside Log It at any time, which stops all further reading immediately, and you can revoke the permission entirely in Settings › Privacy & Security › Financial Data.

Receipts, photos, and the camera

If you photograph a receipt or share an image to Log It, the image is read on your device to pull out the merchant, total, date, and category. On devices with Apple Intelligence this is done by Apple's on-device model; on other devices the app uses the built-in text recognition in iOS. Either way the processing is local, no network request is made, and the result is shown to you for confirmation before anything is saved. Log It does not upload your receipts and does not keep a copy of the photo unless you choose to attach it to an expense.

Siri and shortcuts

Log It exposes actions to Siri and the Shortcuts app so you can log and query spending by voice. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple underApple's privacy policy; Log It receives only the resulting values, such as an amount and a category, and stores them like any other expense.

Purchases

Log It Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment method, billing address, or any part of your card details. The app checks your subscription status through Apple's StoreKit framework on your device.

What we do not do

• We do not run a server that your data passes through.
• We do not collect crash reports, usage analytics, or device identifiers.
• We do not show advertising or share anything with advertising networks.
• We do not use your financial data for marketing or personalization.
• We do not sell or disclose your data to anyone. We have nothing to sell or disclose.

Your control over your data

• Export everything as CSV or JSON at any time from the app's settings.
• Delete any individual expense, or erase all app data with a single action in settings.
• Turn off iCloud sync to keep data on one device only.
• Turn off Apple Wallet sync, or revoke financial data access in iOS Settings.
• Deleting the app removes its local data; data in your private iCloud can be removed from your Apple Account settings.

Because we hold no data about you, there is no data for us to provide, correct, or delete on request. Rights such as access and erasure under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the CCPA are exercised directly in the app, where you hold the only copy.

Children

Log It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. The app requires no personal information to use.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Material changes affecting how the app handles your data will also be noted in the app's release notes.
